Reagent for serological HLA typing.
HLA antisera recognize HLA antigens present in the membrane of the lymphocyte. Adding rabbit complement, the latter is activated by antigen-antibody complexes, resulting in lysis of lymphocyte membrane. An indicator (such as eosin) enters the cell indicating the break, and thus the presence of one particular antigen. Lyophilized or deep frozen complement available.
