Platelets express a variety of polymorphic proteins. The polymorphic changes in the proteins, while not affecting protein function, might become the target for antibodies as a result of pregnancy or transfusion. The presence of those antibodies is associated with life-threatening bleeding disorders such as thrombocytopenia.
Lifecodes Pak LX Assay is a qualitative immunoassay based on Luminex technology, and designed to detect and differentiate between IgG antibodies to HPA-1, HPA-2, HPA-3, HPA-4, HPA-5, GPV and HLA in human serum.
